DHI (Direct Hair Transplant) hair transplantation is one of the advanced hair transplantation techniques used nowadays. This technique is basically similar to the FUE Hair transplantation. At DHI technique, we take the hair follicles one by one using a micro motor device and we transplant them to their new places using Choi pens which are implanter pens.
Hair Analysis and Consultation
All patients who want to have a hair transplant operation should have a general medical examination first. During this general examination any chronic disease, previous surgical operations and any allergies to any drugs or other factors of the patient are diagnosed. After that, the suitability of the patient to hair transplant will be determined according to the results of a detailed clinical examination and hair analysis. During hair analysis we try to find out the cause of hair loss. In order to find out the cause of hair loss we do some blood tests and review the patient’s medical history, After reviewing the results of the blood analysis and the medical history of the person and making sure that he/she doesn’t have any systemic diseases we examine the donor area, in case the number of follicles in the donor area is enough and the cause of hair loss does not prevent hair transplantation we perform hair transplantation to the patient.
Frontal hairline drawing
Frontal hairline drawing is one of the most important stages of hair transplantation because the front hair line is an important factor that not only affects the appearance of the person but also affects his mood and psyche. The drawing of the front hairline, how much hair density will be, the shape of the recesses and protrusions of the front hairline is done by specialized doctors in our clinic.
What are the steps of DHI hair transplant?
- Before starting the operation we prepare the donor area and apply local anesthesia thus the patient will not feel any pain during the operation.
- After that we extract the follicles using a special device called Micro Motor and put them in a container that contain a special solution to preserve the follicles.
- The next step is preparing the receiving area, applying the local anesthesia and transplanting the follicles using implanter pens without opening any channels.
- We should make sure that the diameter of pens is suitable with the size of the follicles and the follicles are transplanted in the same direction of the original hair.
How long does it take for the receiving area to recover?
After a few days of the operation, the hair scabs begin to appear in the places where the hair transplanted. The recovery period of the donor and receiving area is two days and the person should follow the doctor’s instructions during this period, and in the third day patient should wash his hair and do some hair care as the doctor described.
The scabs in the donor and receiving area begin to fall off after about 10 days of hair wash. Two weeks after the operation, the donor and receiving areas will be recovered completely and there will be no scars or traces left at all.
When do hair transplant results appear?
Some of the transplanted hair might shed after hair transplantation; this is an expected thing so patient shouldn’t be worried about it because the falling part of hair is not the root, Hair roots remain under the skin, and new hair starts to grow from the existing hair follicles approximately 2.5-3 months after transplanting, this process can last for up to one year. The period between the eighth and twelfth months of hair transplantation is the best period to evaluate the result of hair transplantation. The thickness of hair increases starting from the date of transplantation until this period and the hair thickness becomes close to the thickness of the hair in the donor area.
There is no need for an extra special care for the transplanted hair. It can easily cut, washed, shaped, dyed etc… .
What are the advantages of DHI Hair Transplant?
The most important advantage of DHI hair transplant technique is that there will be no trace or scar of hair transplantation due to the single extraction of the follicles. Since there will be no scar or trace after the operation, it is possible for the patient to keep his hair short.
